Old Salt
One late summer evening I caught the sight of an older gentleman on the bow of an incoming boat. He seemed to have the look of a sailor long ago. His gaze was steady and his hands were strong. The line he was holding demonstrated his seamanship. And although slightly bent with age his spirit was unbowed. His present demeanor made me long to hear the adventures in his past. I was glad to have seen him that day and glad to know that “old salts” still exist.
